NOT inlaid Wood Not elegant Apr 21, 2011 By NYCDAD
The chess board looks OK at first glance, but the squares are a decal not inlaid wood. Maybe its a wood decal, I don't know. I do know that within 5 minutes the board started to warp with the squares decal starting to separate from the rest of the board. DO NOT BUY

I loved the wood and the way the board is made as well as the pieces. I was disappointed in the size of the board but that is my fault, I did not read the dimensions and assumed is was a full size. I bought 2 of these for gifts. I was disappointed in the box it came in..For such a nicely made set, I would have preferred a better designed box. The box and design on the box made it look cheap. I think the box design should have been as "elegant" as the chess set itself. As a gift I was afraid the recievers would not see it as a $35.00+ set but rather a <20.00 set.

I was disappointed in the quality. The board surface tore after less than a month. Just some sort of cardboard. I don't think "elegant inlaid wood cabinet" is an accurate description of a cardboard surface that tears. The low price should have been a warning.
